The YMCA of Dodge County offers great fitness class options that are designed to meet the needs of our Senior Members (although anyone can join in on a class). Our classes provide fitness, fun, and a sense of community. Come to workout and to make new friends!
NEW! Actively Aging Loft Games/Drums
Loft equipment will be used to provide our actively aging adults a new way to exercise with fun game-based activities. The Light Space Board will provide Aerobic exercise for 1-2 players at a time. Heavy Ball using a medicine ball in a timed format to challenge other players, utilize sight, sound and flexibility. The Ab Solo will work the abs while allowing participants to shoot baskets with a weighted ball. Participants will be able to use the Krank Cycle to gain upper body strength and increase their cardiovascular endurance. We will intersperse the use of Stability Balls with risers and drumsticks to get an aerobic workout to music, and suspension training; which uses your own body weight and gravity as resistance, a great strength workout for all fitness levels. Medical clearance and Health History form required with registration. Maximum 8 participants. NOTE: You must register to take this class.
Actively Aging Yoga For Weight Loss
This class will practice gentle yoga exercises using a chair for 30 minutes every session. We will also use 15 minutes to discuss and plan a healthy meal as a celebratory event for the last day. Limited to 10 participants. NOTE: You must register to take this class.
Tai Chi Gold
Tai Chi is a non competitive, self paced system of gentle physical exercise and stretching. To do Tai Chi, participants perform a series of postures or movements in a slow, graceful manner. Each posture flows into the next without pausing. Participants will learn to feel invigorated, energized, and balanced from the natural, choreographed flow of wellness. Tai Chi also helps with arthritis and fibromyalgia. NOTE: You must register to take this class.
Silver Sneakers® Classic
Have fun and move to the music through a variety of exercises designed to increase muscular strength, range of movement, and activity for daily living skills. Handheld weights, elastic tubing with handles, and a ball are offered for resistance; and a chair is used for seated and/or standing support. Class starts with warm-up exercises and stretches. You’ll move to the music as your instructor leads the class through the next series of exercises. Cool-down exercises at the end of class.
Silver Sneakers® Yoga
Yoga is taught from seated and standing positions to enhance the flow and energy created in combination with restorative breathing exercises. The class offers a variety of safe and effective options designed to increase flexibility and balance to improve each individual’s sense of well-being. Join for fitness, fun and friends!
Silver Sneakers® Circuit
This class involves a little more aerobic activity than the Silver Sneakers - Classic class. It also aims to build strength, balance and flexibility at a slightly more advanced pace. This class will help prevent osteoporosis, arthritis and the loss of muscle mass through its exercises.
