Member of the Month
I have been a member of the Y for close to 20 years. I initially came to visit the old facility with my daughter and I enjoyed how good my visit to the Y made me feel that I decided to become a member. I enjoy walking in the Lazy River, lifting weights upstairs in the Wellness Center and using the treadmill and elliptical machines at the Y. In my free time I enjoy dancing every Friday night, going to church and playing cards and other games.

I have been a member of the Y since February 2004 when retirement gave me the time to renew my interest in the Y. However, this was not my first experience with the Y. I was a member of the Division Street Y in Chicago in 1941 at the age of eight. I was an active youth member and participated in the Y's singing group and learned many things at the YMCA Summer Camp. I have many wonderful memories from summer camp and as I look back I know that "we had nothing but we had the Y." Today, I enjoy participating in propulsion walking and catching up with friends over a cup of coffee and a cookie. Coming in to the Y to workout and visit with friends keeps me going.
My family and I have been members of the Y for 3 years. Both of my young children attend the YMCA Child Development Center. I knew that I wanted my daughter to attend the Y daycare and to participate in the many youth classes that are offered. Through these classes and the use of the pool my daughter has developed a love for the water. In my free time I enjoy spending time with family and friends, bargain hunting, walking and photography.
I have been a member of the Y since 2004. I originally joined in an effort to loose weight. I thought that working out in the water would help to achieve this goal as well as being good for my aching body. I have continued with Aqua Jog and besides loosing weight, no matter how much my body hurts, the deep water helps with my aches and pains.
I joined the Y in order to prepare myself for the physical demands of a mountaineering expedition in Nepal in October 2012. Almost two years later I am still hard at work at the Y as I prepare for my 10th visit to Nepal in October 2013. I enjoy participating in the group exercise classes and regularly attend TRX, which is a great workout, Yoga, Pilates and the Totally Toned class. All of these classes help me to stay in shape so that I can continue to conquer the tall mountains of the world and paddle the waters of Ontario in my canoe. When I am not working out or on an adventure I enjoy playing the piano and gardening.
I have been a member of the Y for the past six months. I wanted to get some exercise routine back into my life after a neck injury. My favorite activity is the water aerobic class. I also really enjoy Active Older Adult Group at the Y. I love the camaraderie and the encouragement I receive from my swim class buddies. A few of the staff have become her friends, too.
I joined they Y six months ago after noticing lower back pain and pain in my legs. My favorite thing to do at the Y is to use the pools and participate in the senior classes. Utilizing the pools and participating in the senior classes have really helped me through this painful time. I keep coming back to the Y because I enjoy the support from the Y employees, their support is very helpful and everyone is so kind.
I have been a member of the Y for four years. I joined the Y for the nice facility, the variety of equipment, the different classes offered and the full day Childcare facility. I keep coming back to the Y because I feel comfortable and know the people.
My favorite thing at the Y was the 3-year old preschool class. I had nice teachers, learned lots of new things, and made new friends. I keep coming back to the Y because I enjoy swimming, playing sports and making new friends in the child watch room. My role models are my teachers, because they have taught me a lot of new things!
I joined the Y back in 1980 for the variety of equipment, the cheerful setting and the opportunity to participate in a regular exercise program. My favorite thing to do at the Y is use the fitness center. The new weight and cardio machines are great. I also enjoy the social setting of meeting new people as well as seeing friends on a daily basis. Our YMCA would not be here without the generous efforts and donations of many.
I joined the Y two years ago for the daycare. My favorite activity is swimming with my parents on Saturday's. I keep coming back to the Y because of daycare and my friends and teachers at the Y.
