Youth Recreational Programs
The Y is the starting point for many youth to learn about becoming and staying active, and developing healthy habits they'll carry with them throughout their lives. And benefits are far greater that just physical health. Whether it's gaining the confidence that comes from learning to swim or building the positive relationships that lead to good sportsmanship and teamwork, participating in sports at the Y is about building the whole child, from inside out.
NEW! Alphabet Soup
Children will explore their letters, numbers, colors and shapes using music, dance, books and other fun hands-on and interactive games! A great class to help your preschooler prepare for 4 year old or 5 year old kindergarten.
NEW! Fairy Tale Dance
Boys and girls put on your favorite costume and join us in dance! We invite all preschool aged children to wear a princess, superhero, fairy or any other kids costume and come prepared to move. Fun movement activites will encourage your little ones to keep the energy flowing while developing beginner level motor skills.
Accomplishments come in many ways in this beginning floor exercise gymnastics class. Your child will learn more about how their body can move and have fun while doing it! Listening to their teacher, being respectful of others and trying new things are primary skills in this class as the children tumble their way to greater flexibility and control of their bodies. Appropriate for tikes who have not taken any organized class before.
Sporties for Shorties
Hands-on exploration of a variety of sports will engage your preschooler as they are introduced to different games and learn the fundamentals of athletics. Your child will be beaming with confidence as they master the tot-size games.
Engaging in age appropriate drills, kids overcome intimidation, and gain confidence and control over the ball. This program works on how to hold the ball, dribble, and run with the ball, along with understanding the rules of the game, and listening to the coach.
Everything in this class is geared towards developing excitement for the game of soccer! Your child will be challenged and encouraged as they practice kicking and running with equipment just the right size for them.
Learn how to play the game of T-Ball this winter in the warmth of the gym. Kids will learn the basic skills and rules of the games using soft dodge balls in this 8 week program.
Skills & Drills Basketball
Dribble, pass and shoot your way through this six week session. This program uses age-appropriate skills and team play for a fun, positive experience. Special emphasis is placed on teamwork, sportsmanship, and fair play. Basic fundamentals of basketball will be taught along with a combination of small side games and full out scrimmages.
