Personal Trainers

Part time hourly rate based off experience and certification. Must be certified by Personal Trainer Certification through a nationally accredited organization including, but not limited to NETA, NASM, ACE, ACSM, AEA.

POSITION SUMMARY: The Personal Trainer follows the YMCA of the USA Health and Fitness guidelines and is responsible for planning and leading a range of individualized or group exercise/activity sessions for clients in a fitness specialty area. They perform a variety of fitness programs that are both educational and motivational and provide guidance on ways to support healthy lifestyles and healthy lifestyle changes. The Personal Trainer also provides customer service which promotes member wellness in accordance with the YMCA policies and procedures and creates a safe, enjoyable, and positive environment. This position supports the work of the YMCA, a leading nonprofit committed to strengthening community through youth development, healthy living, and social responsibility.

ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS:

• Develop, implement, and instruct a variety of personal training and group training sessions for clients at an appropriate level and in the appropriate modality based on clients wants, needs, and ability. Provide encouragement and expertise for the client in support of their health and well-being goals.

• Administer, track, and evaluate health history questionnaires, fitness assessments, and other preparticipation documentation with regard to individual exercise programs.

• Adhere to all guidelines and expectations as outlined in the Northfield Area Family YMCA Employee Handbook which includes but is not limited to providing safe classes and sessions and responding to and reporting any accidents or incidents.

• Educates members in proper use of equipment.

• Provides a cohesive approach to customer service and training that directly impacts the participant’s commitment and personal growth.

• Maintains client list and records as required by the Program Director.

• Maintain required CECs and national certifications.

• Follow Wellness Floor or Pool expectations when not scheduled for personal training, group training, or performing a consultation.

Lifeguards

Do you love the water? Lifeguards are responsible for ensuring the safety of the patrons by preventing and responding to emergencies and enforcing pool rules. Put your skills to work at the Y!

4K Teacher & Summer Camp Coordinator

This full-time position is a combination of 4K Teacher and Summer Camp Coordinator/Supervisor.

4K Teacher:

General Statement of Duties:

The purpose of the 4 year-old kindergarten (4K) teacher is to work in collaboration with the Beaver Dam Unified School District to provide a safe and nurturing environment for children that enriches their social-emotional, cognitive, language, and physical development. The 4K Teacher plans and implements developmentally appropriate activities. The Teacher will also follow WI-DCF regulations as the program is held in a group childcare center. Though much of the programs centers around play, the main purpose of the 4K program is to prepare young children for kindergarten.

Principal Activities:

  • Arrives at scheduled time
  • Follow scheduled hours as determined by the Director.
  • Plans and implements a developmentally appropriate curriculum based on the standards set forth by the Beaver Dam Unified School District and the YMCA of Dodge County.
  • Follows the DCF 251 Licensing Rules for Group Child Care Centers.
  • Maintain confidentiality.
  • Implements the policies set forth by the Beaver Dam Unified School District.
  • Supervises and mentors assistants and volunteers.
  • Supervise and guide children safely in their development
  • Maintain a developmentally appropriate, safe, healthy environment
  • Meets the emotional, social, physical, and cognitive needs of each child.
  • Plans and participates in staff meetings, parent/teacher conferences, professional development and family involvement opportunities.
  • Participates in Individual Education Plans (IEP's) for referred children.
  • Collaborates and works cooperatively with Beaver Dam Unified School District special education teachers and other YMCA partners.

Camp Coordinator & School Site Supervisor:

Oversees Camp Exploration & School’s Day Out programs. Develops, organizes, implements, and leads camp activities, supervises staff, monitors YMCA and state policy and procedures, interacts effectively with staff, parents and supervisor, and fosters individual growth and development of the children at the YMCA enrolled in School’s Day Out & Summer Day Camp.

Principal Activities:

  • Oversees staff on a day-to-day basis during Summer Day Camp.
  • Recognizes and maintains proper staff to child ratios daily.
  • Creates and maintains weekly/daily rosters for attendance.
  • Records daily attendance of children and staff.
  • Oversees that staff and children adhere to daily schedule.
  • Oversees daily pool time for each camp group.
  • Provide daily updates for School Age Director.
  • Support staff when working with behavioral issues with children.
  • Support School Age Director when working with parents.
  • Main point of contact for staff issues.
  • Maintains high standards for safety.
  • Recruits, trains, develops, and coaches summer day camp staff and volunteers as needed to ensure adequate and quality supervision of children and effective implementation of quality activities and programs.
  • Supports School Age Director in reviewing and evaluating summer day camp staff.
  • Assists School Age Director in creating and maintaining staff and child files.
  • Support School Age Director in curriculum development in months leading up to camp, a minimum of 5 hours per week required to be spent on summer camp planning during the school year.
  • Plans, implements, and schedules School’s Day Out, Winter Break and Spring Break programs.
  • Regularly visits multiple school sites to ensure proper licensing standards are being met
  • Other duties as assigned by School Age Director or Child Care Director

Summer Camp Counselors


Join our team of Summer Camp Counselors and have the best summer ever! Make a difference in campers’ lives! This position will supervise and facilitate the daily activities of a group of day campers. Staff and campers will take weekly field trips on Fridays to area venues. Training provided for camp including behavior management, program planning, and camp procedures. Must commit to being a positive role model to all campers in your care!  

Wage Scale: $12.00/hour up to 40 hrs per week (Seasonal Position) 
Hours per week: Mon-Fri 6:30am to 5:45pm - daily scheduled hours will vary

Wear a clean Staff Shirt on Friday for Field Trips. • Arrive at work on time and prepared for the day. Ensure your group is on time for scheduled activities. • Complete duties as assigned by your supervisor or Camp Director as needed to ensure a safe and enjoyable camp experience for all participants including attending staff meetings. • Apply disciplinary needs in a manner appropriate with YMCA standards. Volunteer - Youth Sports and Teachers

The Y is always looking for individuals to help coach, referee and teach classes for our different evening youth recreational programs. Candidates should be enthusiastic, motivating, and be able to relate well to children ages 1-12 years.
